Why you should go to the beach at night? No Crowd: tired of kids running around kicking sand at you or noisy families and teenagers? Well, after 10pm, there are usually NO ONE AT THE BEACH. The best feeling ever is when I walk down the beach at night, looking at the moon, staring into the horizon, and there are absolutely nobody around.


Why are there no flashlights on the beach at night?

At night, you'll see people taking flashlights to the beach. They're out there because you can spot crabs making their way across the sand. However, the light from your flashlight may confuse sea turtles who think it's moonlight, causing them to head in the wrong direction.


Why do people use red flashlights on the beach?

Regular white lights can be distracting to newly hatched sea turtles and can deter them from finding their way into the ocean. It is strongly suggested that red-lights or orange-lights are used after dark.

Leaving very early in the morning ensures you'll beat out the rest of the slackers. If you have summer hours on Fridays at work, take advantage of the extra time and get on the road as soon as you can.


What should you not bring to the beach?

Glass containers are not allowed on any beaches. Bring plastic and paper for your beach goodies, and, of course, dispose of those items properly. Metal shovels move too much sand and are not allowed.
