Why is there Moorish architecture in Spain? Moorish architecture developed in Spain under the Arab occupation of the Iberian Peninsula, between the eighth and fifteenth centuries. Among the main characteristics of this architecture, we see the use of less fine materials, mostly brick, which then was covered with stucco, wood, or decorative tiles.
