Why is the Sea of Galilee not salty? The reason for this is that it has been receiving the nutrients and minerals of the Jordan River that flows into it for thousands of years, but it has no run-off, only evaporation. There is, therefore, nowhere for the salt to go. All it can do is crystallize.
