Why is the Gold Run rest stop closed? The rest areas were closed in January after a series of strong winter storms filled the septic ponds to capacity. The water levels in the septic ponds have now dropped to 2 feet below the levee rim, which is the required level that allows the rest areas to safely reopen to the traveling public.
