Why is rising sea level bad for Singapore? Singapore is a low-lying island and about 30 per cent of Singapore's land is less than 5m above sea level. If extreme sea-level scenarios reach 4m to 5m in 2100, our coastlines are at risk. Singapore has existing and planned measures to protect many of these low-lying areas.
