Why is Devil's Den in Florida called Devil's Den?

Why is Devil's Den in Florida called Devil's Den? This underground spring got its name from early settlers who saw steam rising to the surface from a sinkhole. The warm spring water mixed with the winter air caused the steam to rise, thus the name ?Devil's Den? was given and it has stuck ever since.
