Why do public toilets play music?
Why do public toilets play music? It seems obvious to me that music provides people with a sense of privacy, which in turn likely speeds up the process. The faster people go, the less restrooms you need. You'd think this is insignificant, but a study of a adding simple target sticker in urinals saved an airport millions in maintenance.
Why is there no soap in Japanese bathrooms?
No one knows the reason why, but seem to guess that it's to save money in the public restrooms (both the cost of soap and of water). And a lot of Japanese homes have (or used to have) the toilets with the faucet on top and (for some reason) you wouldn't want the hand soap to run back into the tank.
