Why can't pilots have tattoos? Visible tattoos are viewed as unprofessional by many airlines. The airlines also don't want any offensive or obscene images in the cabin. Finally, they don't want their employees to set themselves apart from the rest of the crew.

Most female pilots in fact do and can wear whatever they'd like. I often have my nails done. Acrylics, powder, or just plain gel. The FA manuals typically provide more guidance that it must be professional/not chipped, but it varies per company.
