Why are aquariums so peaceful?

Why are aquariums so peaceful? The relaxing, trickling sounds of water flowing from the filter and back into the tank is very soothing. It's similar to people playing recordings of rainfall or a running river in order to help themselves fall asleep. The sound of moving water typically calms people down.

Why are aquariums controversial?

Animals in an aquarium are confined in relatively small tanks and can get bored and frustrated. In an effort to provide more natural environments for the animals, different species are often kept together, which lead to predatory animals attacking or eating their tank mates.

Why do animals live longer in zoos?

Captive animals are protected from drought, flood, fire, and predators; they are fed regularly; and if injured or exposed to disease, they receive medical attention. This care helps them to live long, healthy lives. However, wild animals do not have these advantages.
