Who are qualified for eTA?

You are eligible to apply for an eTA if you meet 3 requirements:
  • you've held a Canadian visitor visa (temporary resident visa) in the past 10 years or currently hold a valid United States nonimmigrant visa.
  • you're coming to Canada for a short visit, business or tourist activity (normally for stays of up to 6 months)


Can you get an eTA at the airport?

While most eTAs are approved within minutes, some eTA applications can take several days to process. eTAs can also be obtained via smartphone or tablet. This means that if a traveller has forgotten to obtain an eTA, they will be able to do so at the airport.


Do UK citizens need eTA?

People from the UK, don't require a visa to travel to Canada. However, just like all the other visa-exempt nationalities, except for the nationals of the US, as a UK citizen, you must apply for a Canada ETA before departure. That is, of course, if you plan to travel by air.


Is eTA visa easy to get?

Applying for an eTA is a simple online process that takes just a few minutes to complete. Most applicants get their eTA approval (via an email) within minutes. However, some requests can take several days to process if you're asked to submit supporting documents.


What documents do I need to enter Canada?

All international travellers must carry acceptable identification and a valid visa (if necessary) when entering Canada. A passport is recommended because it is the only reliable and universally-accepted travel and identification document for the purpose of international travel.
