Where does the heat waste go in a steam engine?

Where does the heat waste go in a steam engine? The excess heat that cannot be used by the engine is dumped into the cold reservoir. In order to get that heat to actually flow out the temperature of the engine at the time of expelling heat must be just above T2.

Why are steam engines no longer used?

Steam locomotives are no longer used to transport passengers or products because electric and diesel locomotives are faster, more efficient, and easier to maintain. The locomotives that are still running are a piece of history dating back to the 1800's that really put into perspective just how far we've come!
