What NC beaches can you drive on? Residents and visitors have long enjoyed the beach area now known as Freeman Park. In fact, the area has become one of Carolina Beach's major attractions as it is one of the only beaches in NC that you can drive your 4X4 vehicle on.


Can you drive on Ocean Isle Beach?

No motor vehicles, battery-powered or wind-powered vehicles on the dunes or strand. NO BICYCLES ON STRAND from Memorial Day through Labor Day. (Battery operated wheelchairs ARE allowed).


Do you have to pay to drive on beach in Corolla NC?

Corolla/CarovaNo permit required to drive, but during the season, a permit is required to park* 4WD vehicles can access the beach at the northern end of NC 12 where the paved road ends. 4WD access north of this point is permitted year round.


Can you drive on Sunset Beach NC?

All vehicular traffic is prohibited from the beach strand. Sleeping or camping on the beach strand after dark is not allowed. If you dig holes in the sand, please refill the sand to prevent visitors from being hurt and to ensure that turtles may come ashore without danger of falling in the hole.


When can you drive on the beach in NC?

Beach driving is allowed north of the paved NC Highway 12 in the Carova area year round. Beach driving may also be allowed south of the ramp in the northern Corolla beaches from October through April. Parking permits are required on the Friday before Memorial Day until 11:59pm on Labor Day.
