What is the drink limit at the Blue Lagoon? To ensure the safety of our guests, there is a limit of three alcoholic drinks per guest while using the lagoon. Drinks are charged to your electronic bracelet. To prevent dehydration while bathing, we recommend that you also drink plenty of water. We recommend that you remove any jewelry before entering the lagoon.

Am I Allowed to Bring Alcohol Into Lagoon? Yes, we do allow guests to bring alcohol. However, it is not allowed inside Lagoon A Beach, into the Lagoon Biergarten & Restaurant, and it cannot be left in a cooler unattended. Alcohol is sold at the Biergarten located south of the Roller Coaster.

No, we don't allow guests to bring their own food. Blue Lagoon has multiple culinary options, ranging from nourishing light snacks to unforgettable gourmet experiences.

Do you have to wash your hair before entering the Blue Lagoon?

The seawater in the Blue Lagoon has high levels of silica. Silica is not harmful to hair. However, if your hair gets wet, it can become stiff and difficult to manage. Therefore, we recommend that you apply conditioner to your hair before entering the lagoon--and leave it in your hair while in the lagoon.

The reason it costs so much is because of the very high taxes put on alcoholic beverages. (More than 80% of the price of a bottle of vodka is just tax!) While it's true that most Scandanavian countries have high alcohol taxes, Iceland is even famous amongst its neighbors for the whopping alcohol duties.

There are instructions on the locker door as well. It is recommended that you leave all your jewelry and watches in the locker and the water might cause some damage to them. After having fun with the locker, you will need to shower before going into the lagoon. It is compulsory to shower and wash with soap.

While these are great for your skin, they can leave your hair feeling dry and matted. To minimize these potential effects, we recommend that you avoid immersing your hair in the water for too long and that you rinse your hair with fresh water after exiting the lagoon.

To avoid getting your hair wet while in the Blue Lagoon, we recommend using a swim cap or tying your hair in a bun.


Can you take your phone in the Blue Lagoon?

Yes, you can take your phone in the Blue Lagoon, but definitely bring a waterproof case to protect it from water and silica.


Do you need a swimsuit for the Blue Lagoon?

Are swim suits required at the Blue Lagoon? Bathing suits are worn in and around all areas of the bathing lagoon, including the sauna. You can bring your own, or rent them from reception. You can also rent towels and bathrobes.


Can you skinny dip in the Blue Lagoon?

The Blue Lagoon does not allow any skinny dipping. You will have to bring along your swimsuit in order to enter both the water and the saunas. However, there aren't any rules about the type of swimsuit you can bring.
