What is sand dollar spit? This main part of Tigertail Beach across from the lagoon is Sand Dollar Island or Sand Dollar Spit. The area was completely surrounded by water until storms and erosion from the 90's and 2000's connected it to Marco Island.
Can I take sand dollars from the beach?

How do I get to sand dollar Spit?
Sand Dollar Spit Head south when you get to the end of the boardwalk until you reach the end of the lagoon and make a turn west towards the gulf, then to the north. It's a bit of a trek to walk to the spit, but it's definitely worth it.
