What is a Z freight train? On CSX a Z train is a foreign line 'trackage rights' move. All moves on CSX Main Tracks must be made with a train identification that is recognized by the CADS (Computer Aided Dispatching System). CADS tracks the Z trains in miles operated and the loading of the train is also an element that CADS requires.
