What if I already have a MagicBand? Already have a MagicBand+ or MagicBand from a previous visit? You can reuse your current MagicBand+ or MagicBand. Depending on how much time has passed, battery health may limit your ability to receive Disney PhotoPass attraction videos and select attraction photos with MagicBand.


Will a 4 year old MagicBand work?

My 4 and 2 year old are currently wearing magic bangs and love them. My 4 year old runs to open the door to the room and the 2 year old “checks in” to every ride and park entrance. For $10/$20, it's worth it.


Are Disney MagicBands worth it?

If you do not plan to use Genie+, DAS or take many PhotoPass photos, you probably do not need a MagicBand at Disneyland. If you want to play games and see the band light up with entertainment, as well as use it for Lightning Lanes and PhotoPass, then it may be worth it.


Can you use a second hand MagicBand?

If they are used they are useless. They can't be linked to another account once already linked. The only purpose would be if you wanted the band design, and then you'd still have to purchase a new band in order to get a new puck to switch out. You're better off just buying direct from Disney.

MagicBands and MagicBand+ products use Radio Frequency (RF) technology and can be read by short and long-range readers located at Walt Disney World Resort. If you prefer to use a Key to the World Card—which cannot be detected by long-range readers—you can request a card at your Disney Resort hotel.

It is perfectly acceptable to reuse an old MagicBand on your next trip. The official word from Walt Disney World is that the battery life of a band is expected to be about 2 years. However, I personally have older ones that are still going strong! So, bring your MagicBands and try it!


Can old MagicBands be reactivated?

Under all of your MagicBands you are going to see the option to Activate/Deactivate depending on the status and the option to Report Lost. If your MagicBand is currently deactivated, you'll just select the Activate button and it will be good to go.


What happens when MagicBand battery dies?

However, even if the long-range battery is no longer working, your MagicBand should still work for any Mickey to Mickey touchpoints, such as entrance tapstyles, Lightning Lane entrances, unlocking the door to your Disney Resort Hotel room, or point of sale terminals when charging purchases to your hotel room folio.


Are MagicBands waterproof?

Yes. According to Walt Disney World, the MagicBand+ is “waterproof for pools and water rides.” Can off-site guests use MagicBand Plus? Yes.
