What happens if your Railcard is out of date? If you Railcard expires before the end of your journey then you will need to renew it to be able to complete your trip using expired tickets. If the only Railcard you have is expired you will not be able to continue to use your discounted tickets. Minor delays on some routes - Check to see if your journey is affected.
Can someone buy you a train ticket with their railcard?
The Railcard is for your use only, and provides discounts only on tickets bought for your own use.
Can I get a refund on an unused Railcard?
A: No. Unfortunately once a Railcard has been issued it is non-refundable.
Can I renew my Railcard on Trainline?
You'll just need to be logged into your Trainline account, select the Railcard type you want to renew, confirm your details and then pay for your new Railcard.
Can I renew Railcard online?
If you've already bought a Railcard with us, renewing online is the fastest and easiest way to do it. You can renew your Railcard 30 days before expiry, simply: Log into your account. You will have made this when you first purchased your Railcard.

Yes. You must show your valid Network Railcard (digital or plastic) when you buy your ticket and travel on the train. Failure to present a valid Railcard will mean you have to pay a full fare or you may on certain services be liable for a Penalty Fare.
Can my friend use my Railcard?
The Railcard and tickets bought with it are not transferable to anyone else and you must not give, lend, or resell them. Only the named cardholder(s) can use the Railcard. 2.4. Train Companies will not issue refunds on unused/unwanted Railcards, or extend their validity period.
Can 2 people use the same Railcard?
A: No. The Railcard is for use by you and the second named adult on your Railcard when you are travelling together. The two named cardholders must travel together for the entire journey for their discounted tickets to be valid.

YES! It is valid yo travel throughout Great Britain so you can use the Railcard to buy tickets anywhere across the National Rail network.
Are railcards only valid after 10am?
You can buy Network Railcard discounted tickets for travel any time on weekends and public holidays or from 10:00am Monday to Friday. You may be able to start your journey a little earlier than 10:00am, see the time restriction easements section for details or check at your local station.
Can I buy UK Railcard from overseas?
Yes, you can. Simply click 'Buy Now on the website homepage and follow the instructions on the screen. Please note that you will need to provide a valid passport or UK driving licence or EEA National Identity Card number to prove your date of birth and a digital passport-style photo.
