What happens if you shine a flashlight at a smiler? Turning a flashlight and pointing it to a smiler will annoy it, making it attack you. The smilers normally stalk people in the dark, possibly to scare them or to wait for the perfect moment to attack. Sudden noises or movements can make them aggressive.


Has The Smiler been removed?

Following the accident, merchandise and references to the Smiler were removed from the park. The coaster was closed for the rest of the year. The fate of the ride was unknown until 24 November 2015, when Alton Towers announced that the accident was caused by human error and the ride would reopen in 2016.

Is the Smiler worth it?

The ride itself is absolutely amazing and half way through my head was actually spinning!! the ride is In 2 halves with a vertical lift to the second part and 14 loops!!! Intense but in a very good way and it certainly does its job. I had a very big smile on my face at the end and so did everybody else.
