Our ride staff will endeavour to fill all ride seats as efficiently as possible to reduce guests waiting times. The Smiler operates a Single Rider queue line and the entrance of this is located adjacent to the standard queue line entrance.
What ride should I go on first at Alton Towers?
Wicker Man, Galactica, Nemesis, Oblivion, Rita, Thirteen and The Smiler. TOP TIP: Many guests are so excited to leap on board that they prioritise the rides closest to the entrance. However, if you head straight to the Forbidden Valley or Dark Forest, you'll likely arrive before the queues!

Flat rides A swinging ship, themed to a swinging blade. It was originally situated in Fantasy World between 1980 and 1996, as the Pirate Ship, before moving to Forbidden Valley in 1997. Currently the oldest attraction at the park.
Is 5 hours enough at Alton Towers?
By 5pm we had done all major rides. Most queues were 5 minutes long, the longest was maybe 25/30 minutes. Even the new Wicker Man ride was about 30 mins (however it was busier at other times of the day). We are lucky however that it is a Monday and not all schools in this area have finished for the holidays yet.
