What are the rules for FREENOW? You agree to comply with all applicable laws when using the FREENOW Platform. Any use of the FREENOW Platform and Transportation Services shall only be for legitimate purposes. You are not permitted to transport or cause the transportation of any illegal or dangerous goods.


Does FREENOW tell you the price?

Fares are charged by the meter. This is a regulation of the area in which FREENOW operates according to the TfL/regulations. Passengers are given an estimated fare in advance via the app, but this isn't a fixed fare.


Does FREE NOW charge extra?

Please note that FREENOW may charge additional fees such as Service fees, Reservation fees, Waiting time fees, High demand fees or Surge pricing.


Can you pre book taxi with FREE NOW app?

You can book a taxi/ride at least 30 minutes to 4 days in advance. Press 'Prebook Ride' and confirm your order!


How does the FREENOW work?

Tell your driver you'd like to use Pay with FREE NOW before starting the journey. At the end of the journey, your driver will search for your account via their app. Your driver will confirm the total fare and you will be asked to swipe to confirm.


Why did Freenow charge me more?

The price quoted on the app is only an estimation of the cost. The final fare can sometimes be more than this estimation due to unforeseen circumstances such as traffic, roadblocks, weather conditions, accidents etc. Ride fares are offered upfront. The price you see when booking the trip is the price you'll pay.


How does payment work on FREENOW?

If you order a Ride or EV Ride (PHV, private car) all payments are processed in-app via card, Apple Pay or PayPal. Add your payment method to your FREENOW account before ordering a trip: How to add a payment method.


Why has FREENOW charged me twice?

This may be a temporary hold. This is not a charge but a card authorisation by your bank. When you book a trip via the FREENOW app your payment method is authorised to ensure the payment method works/has sufficient funds.


Do you get charged for cancelling a taxi?

You can cancel your trip at any time, but you may be charged a fee in certain cases where a driver already accepted your request. For example: 1. Where you cancel 2 minutes or more after a driver accepts your request and is on route to pick you up.

Uber has been linked with a takeover of taxi-hailing app Free Now, which has a nationwide presence in Ireland. Free Now, which was previously called Hailo and then My Taxi, is owned as a joint venture by German car giants BMW and Mercedes-Benz owner Daimler.


How do you tip a driver on FREE NOW?

Passengers can tip the driver directly from their app before, during or up to 1 hour after the trip is completed. Tips can only be added as a percentage through the app; either 10%, 15% or 20% on top of the fare. See the exact tip amount for each trip in the 'Job History' section of the app.


How do I ask for a taxi fare?

Before you get in the cab, ask the driver “Could you take me to (place)?” and either “How much will that cost?” or “Do you use a meter?” if you are somewhere where drivers charge by the mile.
