Is the Blue Hole worth snorkeling? It is one of the top wonders to explore in the world. The Blue Hole, located in the center of Lighthouse Reef Atoll is a 1000 foot circular coral reef that drops over 400 feet into an incredible cavern. It is filled with stalactites and awe-inspiring natural formations.


Who Cannot snorkel?

If you're not too old and not too young, reasonably fit, with no serious medical or health conditions, and feel confident being in and around the water – go for it! Snorkelling is made for people like you. And if you don't fit into that box, don't feel bad. You can still go snorkelling, buddy!

Can non swimmers snorkel in Great Barrier Reef?

If you're not a confident swimmer, that's ok! We have a number of ways to assist you experience the reef. These include our Snorkelling Safety Officers who's primary focus is to assist you no matter your level of confidence in the water. We have buoyancy vests and flotation aids available.


When should you not snorkel?

Choppy waters are not ideal for snorkeling, especially; if you're not a proficient swimmer. Wavy waters will bounce you around, and you'll experience diminished underwater visibility because of increased moving debris and sand. Waves also influence the ease and safety of getting in and out of the waters.
