Is Paris or London cleaner? Yet in my experience, flitting back and forth over the Channel over the past three years, I have found much of central Paris far cleaner than parts of London. Wandering around the East End in particular, there seemed to have been a bit of a role reversal going on with respect to Paris.

Paris has been voted the most beautiful city in the world in a new ranking. Travel website Flight Network compiled the list of 50 cities by surveying more than 1,000 travel writers and agencies around the world. The French capital came top, followed by New York in second place and London in third.

Parisian people are reserved and a bit difficult to crack down. And especially if you don't know French, befriending locals can be difficult. But this doesn't mean it's impossible to make new friends. Just remember to go about it in the right way, be patient, and show your effort to learn French and the culture.

Also, what you can do if you feel like it is to do both places. Use London as your first stop to get your feet wet and then head on over to Paris. Spending 4 or so days in London you will eventually feel comfortable traveling solo and have some idea on how to travel. Then you can head on over to Paris for 4 days too.
