Is Malibu Lake public? A beautiful, private lake in the Malibu mountains oozing East Coast small town charm; accessible to the public in several scenic sections. Its waterfront walkways & park is limited to Malibu Lake Members only, however sometimes the gate is open and nobody says anything if you quickly look around and explore.

It was created in 1922 after the Malibu Lake Club Dam was built at the confluence of two creeks. The lake, and community of 250 residents are private. Shore length is not a well-defined measure.
