Is Jacob's well dry? Jacob's Well, which is actually a spring that is usually filled with 68 degree, crystal clear water, has been closed since June 2022. Long-term drought is contributing to Jacob's Well drying up, but so is increased groundwater pumping to “accomodate rapid population growth,” according to The Watershed Association.

The well still produces clear, drinking water, and visitors are allowed to draw water from the well and drink it. Jacob's Well is considered to be the most authentic Christian holy site as no one can move a well that is more than 40 meters deep.
