Is it safe to sunbathe?

Is it safe to sunbathe? Everybody needs some sun exposure to produce vitamin D (which helps calcium absorption for stronger and healthier bones). But unprotected exposure to the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays can cause damage to the skin, eyes, and immune system. It can also cause cancer.

Can you get vitamin D from the sun after 4pm?

In most places, UV rays are strongest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when the sun is at its highest. If you go outside during that window, the body will produce more vitamin D in less time than if you went out in the morning or late afternoon.
