In which region is Venezia?

In which region is Venezia? Venice is a city in northeastern Italy and the capital of the Veneto region. It is sited on a group of 117 small islands that are separated by canals and linked by bridges.

Why is Venice built on water?

Originally, it was thought that 5th century Venetians were forced to flee from the mainland because of conquerors and invaders. The idea was that building Venice on top of its lagoons provided protections that the original settlers sought after.

Where to avoid staying in Venice?

The two main areas to avoid in Venice I suggest are:
  • Castello neighbourhood eastern side as it's quite out of reach.
  • Santa Croce neighbourhood around the Santa Lucia railway station where some tourists have been victim of theft.
