How to become 1K United?

Once you've flown a million miles with United, you'll earn permanent elite status.
  1. At a million miles, you'll get Premier Gold for life.
  2. At two million miles, you'll receive Premier Platinum status for life.
  3. At three million miles, you'll get Premier 1K for life.


How do you qualify for Premier 1K United?

Flex PQP cannot be combined with Premier qualifying flights (PQF) to earn additional Premier upgrades or to obtain Premier 1K status. You must fly 54 PQF and earn 18,000 PQP or earn 24,000 PQP, exclusive of Flex PQP in order to qualify for Premier 1K status.


Is there lifetime 1K with United?

It's possible to earn a lifetime United 1K. Super-frequent flyers can earn United 1K for life. All you need to do is earn 3 million miles through the United Million Miler program.


Does Premier 1K get pre boarding?

United Global Services and Premier 1K members board in the pre-boarding group, while United Platinum, United Gold and Star Alliance Gold members board with Group 1. This is followed by United and Star Alliance Silver members who board with Group 2.

For most people, it probably won't be worth going very far out of your way to chase airline elite status. You can easily replicate many of the perks that a low- or even mid-tier elite traveler would enjoy by holding the right credit cards and buying the occasional upgrade to first class.


How many PQP will I earn per flight?

The number of PQPs you earn on United flights is based on the cost of the ticket fare you purchase. You'll earn one PQP per U.S. dollar spent on the base fare of each eligible United or United Express flight.


Can you buy United PQP?

PQP or PQF purchased through Premier Accelerator will credit to your MileagePlus account within 24 hours of purchase. Premier Accelerator is only available until you board your return flight and cannot be purchased after that point.


How to get PQP without flying?

You can also earn PQP by redeeming MileagePlus miles for United or United Express award flights or by using one of our eligible co-branded credit cards for everyday purchases.


Does Premier 1K get lounge access?

When traveling on a Star Alliance member-operated flight, eligible Star Alliance Gold members (MileagePlus Premier 1K, Premier Platinum and Premier Gold) may visit designated Star Alliance member lounges.
