Can friends and family use my Railcard?

Two adults can be named as cardholders on your Family & Friends Railcard. The two adults don't need to travel together but you do need to be travelling with at least one child between the ages of 5 and 15 to be eligible for the discount.


How do I share my Railcard?

If you have a second cardholder named on your Family & Friends Railcard they can also download the Railcard to their device to use the Railcard when you aren't, provided they are travelling with a child age 5-15. You will need to click “Manage my Railcard on the website homepage to log in to your account.


Does a Railcard work for all trains?

A: Yes, your Railcard is accepted by all the Train Companies who operate Passenger Railway Services within England, Scotland and Wales. Railcards do not give discounts on Eurostar services, Charter services, and Heritage Railways unless state otherwise.

Do all railcards need a photo?

Under 'Choose the type of Railcard you would like' you can select if you want a 'Digital' or a 'Plastic' Railcard. You will be asked to provide a digital passport-style photo if you select 'Digital'. You do not need a photo if you have ordered a 'Plastic' Network Railcard.


Can I share my Railcard on Trainline?

The Railcard is associated to only the email address it was purchased under and it can be shown on the account holders Trainline App. The Railcard can not be shown on the other cardholders account, but we hope that doesn't matter as you both need to travel together anyway.


Can I use my Railcard at any time of day?

You can buy Network Railcard discounted tickets for travel any time on weekends and public holidays or from 10:00am Monday to Friday. You may be able to start your journey a little earlier than 10:00am, see the time restriction easements section for details or check at your local station.


How strict are Railcard photos?

Your head and shoulders should be in close-up, with your face clearly visible and filling approximately 70% of the frame (in the same way it would for a passport or driving licence). The image must be in sharp focus. Please make sure that your face is not obscured by hats or hair.


What happens if you say you have a Railcard but don t?

Failure to present a valid Railcard will mean you have to pay a full fare or you may on certain services be liable for a Penalty Fare.


Can someone travel with me on my Railcard?

Yes. You as the cardholder can buy tickets for your named companion and up to four children as long as they are travelling with you.


Do I need to bring my Railcard with me?

Yes! Your discounted ticket is not valid unless you bring your Railcard with you. Luckily if you buy online, you can add your Railcard to your digital wallet, so you won't forget it!


Can I use my Railcard on behalf of someone else?

Yes. As long as either you (as the main Railcard holder) or the second named Railcard holder is travelling with a child, up to a total of four adults and four children travelling together can get discounts.


What times can you not use Railcard?

Time Restrictions The only time you can't use your Two Together Railcard is at morning peak times, ie before 0930 Monday to Friday. Remember, on weekends and public holidays this restriction doesn't apply, so you can get out and start having adventures whatever time you like.


Can I use my boyfriends Railcard?

No. The Railcard is for your use only, and provides discounts only on tickets bought for your own use. It does not cover anyone accompanying you.
