How does autopay work on ULEZ?

How does autopay work on ULEZ? Pay Congestion Charge, Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) and Low Emission Zone (LEZ) charges automatically each month. Auto Pay records the number of charging days a vehicle travels in the Congestion Charge zone and, if your vehicle does not meet the emissions standards, the ULEZ and LEZ. It bills users each month.

Can I pay ULEZ a week later?

If you do need to pay, charging days run from midnight to midnight, every day of the year (except Christmas Day). You can pay by midnight on the third day following the journey or up to 90 days in advance.

Do you pay ULEZ more than once a day?

£12.50 per day. You can drive in and out of the ULEZ zone multiple times per day but you only pay once.

What happens if I forgot to pay ULEZ?

If you drive within the zone, you'll have to pay by midnight on the third day following the journey. If you don't pay on time, you risk getting a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN). To see if and what you need to pay, check your vehicle.

Is ULEZ covered by autopay?

Auto Pay presents benefits to customers such as removing the risk to drivers of incurring a penalty for non-payment of the daily Congestion Charge, Low Emission Zone and Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) charges.

How is ULEZ monitored?

There are no barriers or toll booths. Cameras read vehicle number plates driven through the zone, which are checked against our database to see if they meet ULEZ emissions standards. Advance information signs appear on major roads, indicating the distance to the boundary.
