Simply wait at one of the convenient and well-marked pickup points throughout Walt Disney World Resort. Your ride will then arrive—usually within minutes—ready to transport you to a variety of destinations.


Do you have to stay at a Disney Resort to ride the Monorail?

A: Yes, anyone visiting Disney World has access to riding the Disney World monorail route, even if you're not staying at a Disney Resort.


How does the Disney monorail work?

Each train is 203 ft 6 in (62.03 m) long (consisting of six cars) and can carry 360 passengers. The trains are driven by eight 113 hp (84 kW) motors which are powered by a 600-volt electrical system running through a busbar mounted on each side of the concrete beam.


Do you have to enter Epcot to use the monorail?

The monorail station is located outside of the theme park entrance, so you don't need to worry about theme park tickets. If you would like to make a complete loop back to the Transportation and Ticket center, you aren't required to exit at the Epcot station and you can just stay on the monorail for your return trip.

The monorail however does NOT shut during lightning so the closure would have been unrelated and coincidental. The monorail does stop running during lightning storms.


Can you get on the monorail without going into EPCOT?
