How do you ask nicely?
Here are some better phrases to make polite requests in English:
- “Do you mind…?.”
- “Would you mind…?
- “Could I…?”
- “Would it be ok if…?”
- “Would it be possible…?”
- “Would you be willing to…?”
How do you ask why nicely?
Ask these in place of “Why does this/that matter?” types of questions.
- What do you think will happen if we have to delay this/that?
- What happens if we don't do this?
- How does this/that align with our strategy?
- What other ways could this issue be resolved?
- What else have you tried/should we try? ( Indirect, but it works)
