How do I apply a Railcard discount?
  1. Select where you're travelling from and to and the date and time you'd like to travel.
  2. Add your passengers and their relevant Railcards.
  3. Select 'Get times & tickets'. If you're eligible for a discount, it will automatically be applied to your search results.


Can I use a digital Railcard immediately?

Digital Railcards are stored within the Railcard app on your smart phone or tablet, meaning there's no need to carry the physical card around with you. They can be stored on up to two devices and used quicker than plastic Railcards as they do not need to be sent in the post.


Can I use my Railcard at any time of day?

You can buy Network Railcard discounted tickets for travel any time on weekends and public holidays or from 10:00am Monday to Friday. You may be able to start your journey a little earlier than 10:00am, see the time restriction easements section for details or check at your local station.


Can I apply Railcard after booking?

Follow. Unfortunately not. You should always check that the discount you expected has been applied before completing your ticket purchase. If you want to apply the discount once the ticket has been bought you will have to cancel your ticket and start again.


Why is my download code not working on Railcard?

Your download code may have expired or been used on too many devices. You can only store your Veterans Railcard on a maximum of 2 devices, so you will need to remove it from an existing device to add it to a new one.

If you bought your Railcard at a station, both the paper printed Railcard and the photocard must be presented. Failure to present a valid Railcard will mean you have to pay a full fare or you may on certain services be liable for a Penalty Fare.

Customers will be able to store their digital railcards on up to two smartphones. In cases where there are two railcard holders, they can both store the railcard on their devices. The app will have a holographic logo in the design, which moves as the customer holds their smartphone and prevents the use of screenshots.


Do you need a photo for a digital Railcard?

You will be asked to provide a digital passport-style photo if you select 'Digital'.


Do railcards not work in the morning?

Your Railcard is not valid during the morning peak period when travelling between two stations in the Network Railcard area of validity. Check locally to confirm morning peak times as these do differ. This restriction does not apply on public holidays.
