How do I use my Railcard? You can use your Railcard to buy tickets online, at a ticket office, from a ticket machine, and over the phone. When you enter a journey into our Journey Planner, you can add the number and type of Railcards you wish to use. It is possible to add multiple Railcards for different people who are travelling.


Why is my Railcard code not working?

If your download code isn't working, it is likely that it has expired or has been used to activate your Railcard on too many devices. You can only store your digital Network Railcard on a maximum of 2 devices, so you may need to remove it from an existing device to add it to a new one.


Can I use my Railcard instantly?

If you have purchased a digital 16-25 Railcard, in most cases it will be available to use straight away. A download code will be sent to your registered email address, along with instructions on how to download your Railcard. Mature students will have to wait a little longer as these applications are checked manually.


How do I activate my Railcard discount?

After ordering your digital Railcard you will be sent an email which contains a download code. You will use this download code to add your digital Railcard on your phone or device.


Do trains ask to see your Railcard?

Yes. You must show your valid 16-25 Railcard (digital or plastic) when you buy your ticket and travel on the train. If you bought your Railcard at a station, both the paper printed Railcard and the photocard must be presented.


Do railcards work at all times?

This depends on the type of railcard some railcards are only valid on Off-peak fares such as the 26-30 railcard, others are available to use all day such as the Senior railcard.


Why does Railcard not work in morning?

The Network Railcard is designed to promote off-peak leisure travel. This means that it encourages people to use trains outside of the busy commuting period which occurs before 10:00am Monday to Friday.


When can I not use Railcard?

You can use your Network Railcard to get discounts on tickets for travel from 10:00am Mondays to Fridays and at any time on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays. Please note, the 10:00am Monday to Friday Network Railcard time restriction applies to all ticket types.


How do I use my Railcard when booking?

How do I apply a Railcard discount?
  1. Select where you're travelling from and to and the date and time you'd like to travel.
  2. Add your passengers and their relevant Railcards.
  3. Select 'Get times & tickets'. If you're eligible for a discount, it will automatically be applied to your search results.


Can my friend use my Railcard?

The Railcard and tickets bought with it are not transferable to anyone else and you must not give, lend, or resell them. Only the named cardholder(s) can use the Railcard. 2.4. Train Companies will not issue refunds on unused/unwanted Railcards, or extend their validity period.


Do Trainline railcards only work on Trainline?

Yes. Although your Railcard will live in your Trainline App, it can still be used with tickets bought elsewhere.


Are railcards only valid after 10am?

You can buy Network Railcard discounted tickets for travel any time on weekends and public holidays or from 10:00am Monday to Friday. You may be able to start your journey a little earlier than 10:00am, see the time restriction easements section for details or check at your local station.


How do I use my Railcard digitally?

Open the app*, and tap on the + symbol in the top right hand corner to get started. Select Add an existing Railcard at the top of the screen. Enter the download code you received in an email titled Your digital Railcard download code, and click continue.


Do I need to bring my Railcard with me?

Yes! Your discounted ticket is not valid unless you bring your Railcard with you. Luckily if you buy online, you can add your Railcard to your digital wallet, so you won't forget it!


Do they check railcards?
