How did pioneers survive winter? They shoveled all day to clear the snow with wooden showels. They fed the animals in the barn, horses, cows, goats, lambs, pigs and chickens. They made their breakfast ,coffee, and cooked their three meals per day, and constantly kept on adding logs of wood to keep their house warm.
