Has anyone traveled with a damaged passport? While one country could allow you to enter with your damaged passport, another could deny you entry. Traveling with a damaged passport opens you up to being detained in a foreign country or even sent back home. You also might not even take off.


Can I travel with a slightly damaged passport?

The US State Department notes damage that will require a replacement as “water damage, a significant tear, unofficial markings on the data page, missing visa pages (torn out), a hole punch, or other injuries,” while also flagging that “wear and tear” such as bending and fanning are not to be worried about.


Can I travel while waiting for my passport renewal?

Answer: No, you cannot travel internationally without a valid passport. Photocopies of passports are not acceptable. If you need your passport to travel internationally and do not have time to wait for routine processing, then you can apply for expedited passport renewal. By mail, this process takes 2-3 weeks.


Can I enter a country with one passport and exit with another?

U.S. nationals, including U.S. dual nationals, must use a U.S. passport to enter and leave the United States. U.S. dual nationals may also be required by the country of their foreign nationality to use that country's passport to enter and leave that country.


Can I get my passport on the same day in USA?
