Does customs scan passport or just look at it? Travelers are prompted to scan their passport, take a photograph using the kiosk, and answer a series of CBP inspection related questions verifying biographic and flight information. Once passengers have completed the series of questions, a receipt will be issued.

Everything written in your passport, including identifying details and any travel history it contains. Biometric information stored on the chip. Any information linked to your passport on their system (previous entries, visa applications, deportations, etc.).

- Recent travel to certain countries.
- Holding a passport from a country that the U.S. does not have a good relationship with.
