Do you have to reserve a seat on LNER? A reservation is highly recommended for pass holders, but not necessary. A free seat reservation can be made in advance or up to five minutes before a train's scheduled departure and can be cancelled should your plans change. You can make a reservation on our website or by using the LNER App or in our stations.
Which LNER coach is unreserved?
If all reservable seats have been taken, there are a number of unreserved seats in coach C in Standard and coaches M or E in First Class. This means that if you don't have a seat reservation you'll still be able to travel in the unreserved part of the train.

What happens if I've missed the last train connection? If you've missed the last train connection due to a delay, don't panic. Rail operators cannot leave you stranded mid-journey, especially if the delay is within their control.
Can I use my ticket on another train if my train is Cancelled?
If a train is cancelled (and that's what's happened here) you're entitled to take the next train that matches any restrictions on your ticket. So if your ticket is routed via a certain place, you must go that way, or if it's only valid on a certain train company, you must use that companies services.

Some carriers don't provide seat reservations on all or some of their trains. This is common on regional trains, shorter routes and during peak travel times on commuter routes. On these trains you can sit in any vacant seat in the class your ticket is booked for.
