Do you float in freshwater?
Do you float in freshwater? Human bodies are slightly less dense than water and therefore can float on water. The density of fresh water is very close some folks have to keep a full breath of air at all times to float, while for some there is enough fat layer to float more easily.
Is freshwater harder to swim in?
Fresh water lacks the high saline content of oceans and seas, and as such, does not offer the same buoyancy profile of salt water. This means that swimmers need to work harder to maintain good body alignment and a high position in the water.
