No, children under 5 can continue to enjoy our places for free. However if your child would like their own membership card and welcome pack, you can buy them junior membership as a gift.

Can I join the National Trust at a property? In a word, yes, you can join the Trust at a property. Doing so will give you free entry to that property on the day. You will be issued a temporary membership and you should receive a membership card, Trust handbook and member magazine in the post within a few weeks.

There are family membership options for two adults living at the same address and their children (17 and under) or for one adult and their children. Under-5s go free. Grandchildren can also be included on a family membership.


Can I enter National Trust without my card?

All our members have scannable cards and in order to gain entry to our places you need to show your membership card to a member of staff and at places with barcode scanners we will need to scan the card to count your entry.


Can a couple use National Trust family pass?

A family day pass allows two adults and up to three children or one adult and up to four children to enter one of 500 National Trust sites on a one-time basis. You don't need a family to use the pass as you can use it alone or in a couple as well.


Can I use someone elses National Trust card?

Membership may not be transferred to another person and Members are not permitted to allow another person to use their Membership card. 2.3 'Ordinary or Adult Member' categories allow only the named card holder to enter our properties.


Can you stay overnight in National Trust car parks?

Parking your campervan or motorhome Campervans that are used for travel are welcome in our car parks but aren't allowed to stay overnight. Unfortunately, we're unable to welcome caravans and coaches. Please be aware that many of our car parks are located on very narrow and sometimes steep roads.
