Do pilots prefer 787 or 777?

Do pilots prefer 787 or 777? Both have the same type rating so system wise they're pretty much the same; a pilot who enjoys the 787 systems would feel the same about a 777 (give or take minor difference). Flying wise not to sure! I think the 787 is a lot smoother to handle and the 777 is a bit longer. But it all comes down to personal preference.

Is the 787 nice to fly?

Overall, most people would probably find the 787 a more comfortable experience. The general cabin improvements and newer technology are an excellent addition. Of course, if you are flying on a route with an older Boeing 777-200ER, however, the extra space in the World Traveller cabin is a good option.

Why is the 787 so comfortable?

Smoother Ride Technology: Sensors on the 787 sense and dampen turbulence for a more comfortable ride and less motion sickness. Large overhead bins: There's space for your carry-on near your seat. Better seating options: The 787 offers the latest in seat comfort and technology.

Why is 777 so special?

“The Boeing 777's unique combination of superior range, outstanding fuel efficiency and passenger-preferred comfort has created long-range success for carriers around the world. And the 777-300ER now gives operators a perfect opportunity to extend that success.

Why is Boeing 787 so quiet?

To combat the sound of jet-blast from the rear of the engine, Boeing, General Electric, and NASA developed serrated edges called chevrons for the back of the nacelle and the engine exhaust nozzle. The chevrons reduce jet blast noise by controlling the way the air mixes after passing through and around the engine.

Is 787 better than A380?

We can see that the smaller variants of the 787 have a better range than the larger 787-10. In fact, the mid-sized 787-9 even outranks the A380. However, in terms of the comparison to the larger 787-10, the A380 appears, on paper, to be the more flexible aircraft on account of its longer range.

Why is flying Dreamliner better?

The more-electric architecture of the 787 Dreamliner family eliminates the pneumatic and bleed-air system. The electric system improves efficiency by extracting only the power actually needed during each phase of flight.

Is the 787 a smooth ride?

This advanced fly-by-wire system also is the key to Smoother Ride Technology – unique to the 787 family -- which senses turbulence and adjusts control surfaces automatically to dampen its effects before it reaches the passengers.

Why 787 is better than A350?

The Bottom Line: The Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787-9 are very similar aircraft, suited for similar missions. As one would expect, the slightly larger A350-900 has a seat-mile cost advantage, while the 787-9 has an advantage in cost per block hour. These aircraft are competitive, and nearly tie in economic performance.

Why is the 787 not popular?

Current 787 deliveries have been mostly suspended over the last year because of quality control programs involving microscopic tolerances of fasteners joining fuselage barrels together, and additional issues with electrical systems and windscreens.

Why is 787 Dreamliner so popular?

This high aspect ratio wing design combined with efficiency enhancing raked wing tips allow the 787 to be one of the fastest commercial aircraft (Mach 0.85 cruise speed) while consuming less fuel than today's comparably sized aircraft.

Is the 787 a success or failure?

The Dreamliner is a successful aircraft, still in production with more than 1600 delivered or on order. The list price for a new Boeing 787-8 is $239 million dollars. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner has revolutionized flying for both passengers and pilots. Taking a leap into the future from its predecessors, the designers incorporated a number of new features that make the Dreamliner one of the most fuel efficient and comfortable aircraft in the skies.

Why do passengers not like 787?

The seats are so cramped in economy that the legroom of a similar seat on a 777 or a 747 feels like a business-class seat. Intelligent engineering allows for seat-backs to recline but to compensate, the seat bottom lunges forward — thereby only providing an illusion of a recline.

Why is the Dreamliner better for jetlag?

The carbon-fibre structure of the 787 allows the aircraft to be pressurized to a much higher level than on many other aircraft types. The lower the cabin altitude, the better you feel both during and after the flight, allowing your body to adjust to your new time zone more quickly.
