Do MagicBands go bad?
Do MagicBands go bad? They run off of a small battery inside the band. Disney says the batteries are designed to last for 2 years. I have read of batteries lasting for up to five years. Since a Disney Magic Band is just a link to your My Disney Experience account, it can be used for many trips until the battery no longer works.
Can I buy a basic MagicBand?
Yes. Disney still offers plenty of standard magicbands both and solid colors and designs.
Can you reactivate old Disney MagicBands?
You'll log in to your MyDisneyExperience account and visit the My MagicBands and Cards section. You'll select the person you want to view MagicBands for and then will be able to see which ones are active or inactive. If you want to activate one that has been labeled inactive, you'll just click that option to do so.

Will Disney replace a MagicBand battery?
Since your MagicBand is five years old, you may find that you do not have access to all the MagicBand benefits, such as Disney PhotoPass videos and select Disney PhotoPass attraction photos. Unfortunately, MagicBands are equipped with a single-use battery that cannot be replaced.
Can I use my phone instead of MagicBand?
You can use your phone. Create a Magic Mobile pass within the My Disney Experience app. As long as you're using your phone to only scan in YOURSELF (meaning not you AND the other members of your party), then it should be fine. It might be slower than using a MagicBand, but it still works.
