Can you take alcohol to Ocean Beach? ?Is alcohol permitted?? Hello and thanks for your question. We can't allow alcohol to be brought into the park but there is our Sandbar Cafe on the upper deck that overlooks the beach and boardwalk that does serve adult beverages as well as a full menu during our summer season.
Should you drink at the beach?
Dehydration is real. You might joke about quenching your thirst with a few bottles of booze, but the reality is that alcohol is a diuretic. This means you're losing liquid as you continue to drink (and need the restroom). Compound this with the heat of the sun and you could be asking for trouble.
What can you not bring to the beach?
Glass containers are not allowed on any beaches. Bring plastic and paper for your beach goodies, and, of course, dispose of those items properly. Metal shovels move too much sand and are not allowed. You can bring a small plastic shovel for building sandcastles, but excessive digging is not permitted.
What can you smell at the beach?
For many, the scent of the sea is one of hot sand mixed with sunscreen and maybe even coconut, and is therefore a sweet, enveloping and warm smell. For others, it's that unmistakable mix of salt, seaweed and iodine, a scent that remains on our clothes after a day spent at the beach even in the middle of winter.
