Can you film in the Blue Lagoon? Anyone interested in filming and/or photographing at Blue Lagoon must complete a film application form. The application should be submitted at least three days prior to the proposed date of the shoot.
Do you have to wear flip flops at Blue Lagoon?
Many guests prefer to use flip-flops while walking in and around the water. If you would like to wear flip-flops, you may bring them with you or purchase them at the Blue Lagoon reception desk. Water shoes are allowed, but we don't offer them for sale.
Can you wear sunscreen in the Blue Lagoon?
make sure to remove your jewellery & contact lenses. Wear sunscreen & sunglasses. Stay hydrated. Remember to shower before and after getting into the Blue Lagoon.
Do you have to wash your hair before Blue Lagoon?
In the Blue Lagoon you will be advised to wash your hair. If you wash your hair before going into the thermal bath, your hair will have less silicia, which makes your hair dry. If you let your hair get wet in the Blue Lagoon, than put on conditioner in your hair.
Can I wear my Apple watch in the Blue Lagoon?
There are instructions on the locker door as well. It is recommended that you leave all your jewelry and watches in the locker and the water might cause some damage to them. After having fun with the locker, you will need to shower before going into the lagoon. It is compulsory to shower and wash with soap.
Can you see the northern lights at the Blue Lagoon?
Yes, you can see the northern lights from the Blue Lagoon. Much like trying to spot aurora borealis anywhere else in Iceland, it depends on the weather conditions and solar activity. Since the Blue Lagoon is away from the city, there's less light pollution than in Reykjavik.
Can I wear a shower cap in the Blue Lagoon?
Depending on your hair type and how sensitive you are, you might want to use a shower cap or keep your head and hair out of the water. The Silica in the water is not harmful to your hair, but it can get stiff and difficult to manage. There is conditioning in the showers to help, but it might take a few washes.
Is the Blue Lagoon in Iceland worth it?
There are plenty of other thermal pools and hot springs to explore in Iceland, like the Sky Lagoon, Secret Lagoon, Myvatn Nature Baths, and many more. But if you've only got a few days in Iceland or want to visit several of the pools Iceland has to offer, Blue Lagoon can easily be worth the cost and hype.
Can I bring my phone in Blue Lagoon?
Yes, you can take your phone in the Blue Lagoon, but definitely bring a waterproof case to protect it from water and silica.
Can you get your hair wet in the Blue Lagoon?
While these are great for your skin, they can leave your hair feeling dry and matted. To minimize these potential effects, we recommend that you avoid immersing your hair in the water for too long and that you rinse your hair with fresh water after exiting the lagoon.
Are bathing suits required at Blue Lagoon?
Are swim suits required at the Blue Lagoon? Bathing suits are worn in and around all areas of the bathing lagoon, including the sauna. You can bring your own, or rent them from reception. You can also rent towels and bathrobes.
What you Cannot bring to Iceland?

- Various weapons, e.g. daggers with blades exceeding 12 cm, switchblade knives and flick stilettos, knuckles and various truncheons, crossbows and handcuffs.
- Finely powdered snuff.
- Moist snuff to be used orally, also available in bags.
