Can you conceal carry-on the Brightline train? We've focused on making the experience touch free, cashless and contactless when boarding by scanning the Brightline app for entry. Firearms, ammunition and/or weapons are not permitted on our property to include stations, facilities, garages and trains. Only exceptions to the rule are sworn law enforcement officers.


Does a backpack count as a carry-on via rail?

Small backpacks are considered a personal item. Backpacks exceeding dimensions 43 × 15 × 33 cm (17 × 6 × 13 in) are considered to be a luggage.


Does Amtrak check for weapons?

All firearms and/or ammunition must be checked at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled train departure. Some larger stations require that baggage be checked earlier. Please contact your departure station for more details.


What am I not allowed to bring on a train?

The following items are prohibited onboard the train: non-service animals, firearms and ammunition, hover boards, corrosive or dangerous chemicals and materials, incendiaries, martial arts and self-defense items, archery equipment, devices containing propellants, sharp objects, and similar items.

No one may smoke anything in any area on trains, on Thruway services, in stations or in any other location where smoking is prohibited. This includes: Electronic smoking devices, such as electronic cigarettes.


Do your bags get searched on Amtrak?

They do random bag checks sometimes, but they don't make everything go through security like at the airport.


Does Brightline have first class?

Does Brightline have metal detectors?

You go through a metal detector and send your bags thru X-ray machine, so only passengers are beyond that point.

Why does Brightline crash so much?

The most common mistakes they see are drivers stopping on the tracks, trying to go around barriers, or ignoring the warnings altogether. Drivers need to be aware as they approach a grade crossing that even if the gates are in the upright position, they need to have enough room to clear that grade crossing.
