Can I use ICOCA to get to Nara? You can use ICOCA to go from Kyoto to Nara. Take the Kintetsu (not JR ) Kyoto Line instead of JR Nara Line. Kintetsu's Nara station is almost 15 minutes closer to the deer park vs JR Nara. Within Kyoto, you can use ICOCA to ride subways and trains.
