Can I use a Railcard on any train? Yes, your Railcard is accepted by all the Train Companies who operate Passenger Railway Services within England, Scotland and Wales. Railcards do not give discounts on Eurostar services, Charter services, and Heritage Railways unless state otherwise.
Does a Railcard work immediately?
If you have purchased a digital Two Together Railcard, it will be available to use straight away. A download code will be sent to your registered email address, along with instructions on how to download your Railcard. You cannot travel on discounted tickets until you have received your Railcard.

This depends on the type of railcard some railcards are only valid on Off-peak fares such as the 26-30 railcard, others are available to use all day such as the Senior railcard.

Ticket checks are very frequent and you are always asked for your Railcard. Furthermore, to get away with buying a Railcard-discounted ticket without holding a valid Railcard, you would have to rely on not having your ticket checked.

Why can't the Network Railcard be used before 10:00am Monday to Friday? The Network Railcard is designed to promote off-peak leisure travel. This means that it encourages people to use trains outside of the busy commuting period which occurs before 10:00am Monday to Friday.
