Can diesel cars shoot flames? If all the air is used in the combustion chamber but there is still unburnt fuel (diesel) in the cylinder, it will get pushed uit during the exhaust stroke. With the exhaust temperatures at above 300°C and oxygen at the end of the exhaust, the excess fuel will burn there and the result is fire with a bang.
