Are there different types of Schengen visa? If you're traveling to Europe and entering the Schengen Area from a country without a visa-free travel arrangement, you'll need to apply for a Schengen visa. These come in four main Schengen Visa categories or Schengen Visa types - A, B, C, and D.


What is Type C and D Schengen visa?

Label «C» – stands for the visa type C – or short-stay visa, that does not permit the holder to stay more than 3 months in the Schengen Area. Label «D» – stands for the visa type D – or long-term visa, which permits the holder to stay more than 3 months.


Can I enter a different Schengen country?

As a general rule you may cross any Schengen border with visa issued by any Schengen country. However, the short-stay visa does not automatically entitle you to enter the Schengen area.
