Are sharks better in freshwater or saltwater?

Are sharks better in freshwater or saltwater? The salt found in ocean water is necessary to keep a lot of sharks alive. Fresh water flooding the cells of most sharks will kill them. There are a few species that can tolerate brackish, or slightly salty, water. Others have adapted to survive only in fresh water.

In Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana a boy was attacked by a bull shark in 2014; bull sharks have also been caught by anglers on this lake. The sharks move into the lake more in the summer months but swim back out to the Gulf of Mexico in the later part of the year.
