Are gators aggressive? Alligators usually are not aggressive toward humans. Unprovoked attacks by alligators smaller than 5 feet are rare, but unusual behavior does occur. Single bites usually are made by alligators that are less than 8 feet long.


Do alligators go after big dogs?

Large alligators make a living eating waterfowl, turtles and snakes, as well as mammals encountered alongside wetlands. They will instinctively go after a deer, bobcat or dog walking along a shoreline — oblivious that the dog's leash is held in a person's hand.
